COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 14 (UPI) -- Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored in the 87th minute Sunday, boosting the Columbus Crew to a 2-1 Major League Soccer win over Chivas USA.
The game-winner was Schelotto's second in the contest. His first created a 1-1 tie in the 61st minute.
The league's reigning MVP has scored an MLS-high 10 goals this season and his heroics Sunday helped the Crew extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches.
Columbus (4-2-7) has four wins and five ties in that span and is 12
The lone goal for Chivas (8-4-3) was scored by Eduardo Lillingston in the 39th minute.
Chivas continued to field a makeshift lineup in the absence of U.S. internationals Jonathan Bornstein and Sacha Kljestan, who are participating in the FIFA Confederations Cup.
Chivas USA gets a three-week respite from league play, next facing the Los Angeles Galaxy July 11.
