
NEW YORK, June 14 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees scored nine times in the fourth inning Sunday on the way to a 15-0 inter-league rout of the New York Mets.
Both Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano hit two-run homers in the explosion against Mets ace and losing pitcher Johan Santana.
Cano led the Yankees with three hits and three RBI. Johnny Damon had two hits and three RBI. Derek Jeter had four hits and two RBI.
Melky Cabrera had two hits and two RBI, while Nick Swisher and Alex Rodriguez were the only batters without an RBI for the Yankees, who won two of three in the "Subway Series."
Winner A.J. Burnett (5-3) hurled seven scoreless innings with four hits, four walks and eight strikeouts.
Garry Sheffield had two of the six hits for the Mets, who suffered the worst losing margin ever in the series.
Santana (8-4) gave up nine runs and nine hits in three-plus innings.
