
MILWAUKEE, June 13 (UPI) -- Jose Contreras hurled eight scoreless, two-hit innings Saturday to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 7-1 inter-league win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
With Contreras dominating Milwaukee hitters, Chicago wrapped the win with a six-run second inning against losing pitcher Manny Parra. Paul Konerko had two hits and two RBI and Gordon Beckham hit a two-run second-inning double.
Scott Podsednik had one RBI, while both Ramon Castro and Jayson Nix had two hits and one RBI for the White Sox, who had lost nine of 12.
Contreras (2-5) walked two batters and stuck out eight.
Milwaukee's run scored on Casey McGehee's ninth-inning pinch single. Corey Hart and Jason Kendall had one hit apiece for the Brewers, who have split their last four contests.
Parra (3-8) surrendered six earned runs, six hits and three walks in 1 2/3 innings.
