ORLANDO, Fla., June 12 (UPI) -- Derek Fisher saved the game in regulation and hit the decisive shot in overtime Thursday, lifting the Los Angels Lakers to a 99-91 win over Orlando.
The Lakers moved to the brink of the NBA championship by taking a 3-1 lead in the final series, winning a game that seemed all but lost late in the fourth quarter. Los Angeles can claim the crown on Orlando's home floor Sunday in Game 5.
Los Angeles overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half, fell behind by five with 95 seconds to go and seemed hopelessly beaten when Orlando's Dwight Howard went to the free throw line with 11 seconds to go and the Magic owning a three-point advantage. Howard failed on both foul shots, however, and Fisher took advantage by hitting a 3-pointer with 4.6 seconds to play that tied the game and forced overtime.
Fisher came through again with 33 seconds left in overtime when he broke a tie with another 3-pointer.
Hedo Turkoglu then attempted to tie the game with a 3-point effort, but that failed and a long rebound went right to the Lakers' Pau Gasol, who had no opposition on his way to a dunk that gave Los Angeles a five-point lead with 21 seconds remaining.
The heroics by Fisher overshadowed a 32-point performance by Kobe Bryant, who made only 11-of-31 shots from the field but hit all eight of his foul shots. Gasol scored 16 points and Fisher had 12.
Turkoglu led Orlando with 25 points while Howard managed just 16 points but pulled down 21 rebounds and blocked nine shots.
Los Angeles attempt Sunday to win the 15th NBA title in franchise history and Coach Phil Jackson will be trying for his record 10th league crown.
