KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 12 (UPI) -- Luke Hochevar pitched a three-hit complete game Friday when the Kansas City Royals beat Cincinnati 4-1.

Hochevar (2-2) struck out three and walked one in his first career complete game. One of the three hits was a fifth-inning home run by Jonny Gomes, but Hochevar went on to mow down the final 14 batters he faced.

Billy Butler and Alberto Callaspo delivered home runs for the Royals, who have won just three of their last 14 games.

Reds' starter Matt Maloney (0-1) allowed four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Gomes reached Hochevar for a third-inning double and Brandon Phillips had a fourth-inning single.
