WASHINGTON, June 11 (UPI) -- Cristian Guzman scored on an eighth-inning error Thursday, boosting the Washington Nationals to a 3-2 victory against the Cincinnati Reds.
With two on and one out, and Cincinnati leading 2-1, Ryan Zimmerman grounded into a fielder's choice, Josh Willingham scored from third base and Guzman scored from second when Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips threw wildly past first for an error.
Guzman had one RBI and Willingham had two hits for the Nationals, who broke their three-game losing streak.
The winner was reliever Julian Tavarez (2-4), while Joe Beimel earned his first save. Washington starter John Lannan yielded two runs and five hits in six innings.
Alex Gonzalez led Cincinnati with two of its five hits and one RBI. Adam Rosales had one RBI for the Reds, who were trying to win for the fourth time in their last five games.
The losing pitcher was reliever Daniel Ray Herrera (0-2).
Cincinnati starter Micah Owings surrendered a run and four hits in 5 1/3 innings.
