MLB: San Francisco 9, Arizona 4

PHOENIX, June 10 (UPI) -- Matt Cain picked up his eighth win of the season Tuesday, despite giving up four Arizona runs in the San Francisco Giants' 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Cain (8-1) pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up the four runs on six hits with six strikeouts before turning the ball over to the bullpen, which allowed the Diamondbacks just one more hit.

Cain had plenty of backing from his offense, which knocked out 17 hits with home runs from Pablo Sandoval and Juan Uribe.

Mark Reynolds and Stephen Drew homered for Arizona. Starting pitcher Billy Buckner (2-2) drove in a run as well, but also was shelled for eight runs on 13 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Uribe started things off against Buckner in the second inning with his first home run of the season.

Reynolds answered in the Arizona second with a lead-off homer followed up by Buckner's RBI sacrifice bunt that put the Diamondbacks ahead 2-1.

After Sandoval put the Giants ahead in the top of the third, Drew responded in the bottom of the inning with a two-run homer to make it 4-2.

It was all Giants afterward as they scored three runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Randy Winn and Sandoval's two-run homer to regain the lead 5-4.

Uribe scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. Aaron Rowand and Edgar Renteria followed with RBI singles that made it 8-4.

The Giants added a run in the ninth on a ground ball to the mound that Blaine Boyer misplayed, allowing Winn to score.
