CHICAGO, June 10 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera homered in the top of the 10th inning Tuesday, lifting the Detroit Tigers over the Chicago White Sox 7-6.

Cabrera sent an 0-1 pitch from Scott Linebrink (2-4) over the left-field wall to spoil a Chicago comeback that included three runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score and force extra innings.

Placido Polanco had three RBI for the Tigers and Brandon Inge homered and scored three runs. Brandon Lyon (2-3) picked up the win with a perfect 10th after being hung with a blown save in the ninth inning.

Brian Anderson hit a two-run homer for the White Sox and Paul Konerko drove in a pair in the ninth but usually reliable starter Mark Buehrle gave up a season-high five earned runs on five hits and five walks.

The White Sox scored a run in the bottom of the first on a wild pitch by Dontrelle Willis, who lasted five innings and also gave up five hits and five walks.

The Tigers tied the score in the second and both teams tallied two runs in their respective halves of the fifth.

Detroit took a three-run lead in the seventh on Polanco's bases-loaded double off Octavio Dotel, who took over after Buehrle with two runners aboard.

The Sox got back in the game against Tigers closer Fernando Rodney in the ninth. Rodney walked the first three batters and was pulled for Lyon. Lyon walked Jim Thome to make it 6-4 and then gave up a two-run double to Konerko that tied the score.
