
SAN DIEGO, June 9 (UPI) -- Kevin Kouzmanoff drove in four runs and Tony Gwynn Jr. had two hits and scored twice Monday to help the San Diego Padres beat Arizona 6-3.
Starter Jake Peavy (6-6) got the win, giving up three runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks for San Diego, which has won two of its last three but has dropped five of its last seven and seven of its last 10 games.
Heath Bell pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 17th save, tops in the majors.
Josh Whitesell had two hits and drove in a run for the Diamondbacks, who have lost four of their last six.
Arizona starter Jon Garland (4-6) gave up six runs on seven hits with five walks in 6 2/3 innings to take the loss.
Kouzmanoff delivered a two-run single in the fifth and a two-run double in the seventh.
