MLB: Detroit 5, Chicago WSox 4 (1st game)

CHICAGO, June 8 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge's RBI single in the ninth Monday lifted Detroit to a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox in the first game of a doubleheader.

Inge finished with two RBI, and Adam Everett added two hits and an RBI for the Tigers.

Detroit starter Armando Galarraga gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks in 6 2/3 innings. Joel Zumaya (3-0) got the win despite giving up a game-tying homer in the eighth.

Scott Linebrink (2-3) gave up the winning run and took the loss, Chicago's sixth in its last seven games. Sox starter Clayton Richard allowed three runs on five hits and five walks.

Jermaine Dye hit a two-run homer and Paul Konerko hit a solo homer for Chicago.
