POCONO, Pa., June 7 (UPI) -- Tony Stewart got his first victory as both driver and owner in the Sprint Cup Series Sunday when he captured the Pocono 500.

Stewart had earned the pole position since qualifying at Pocono was canceled due to rain Friday, but had to start last in a backup car after wrecking in Saturday's practice. He took the lead with 37 laps remaining and became the first driver/owner to win a Cup race since Ricky Rudd in September 1998 at Martinsville, Va.

It was Stewart's 34th career victory. The two-time Cup Series champion was the fourth driver to start from the back of the field and win this year.

Carl Edwards, who led the most laps with 103, finished second.

David Reutimann finished third, Jeff Gordon was fourth and Stewart's teammate, Ryan Newman, was fifth.
