NEWPORT, Wales, June 7 (UPI) -- Jeppe Huldahl of Denmark shot a 4-under-par 67 Sunday to win the Celtic Manor Wales Open.
For Huldahl, who posted a 9-under 275, it was his first European Tour victory. He finished one stroke better than runner-up Niclas Fasth of Sweden.
Huldahl, 26, had never been in the top 10 in any of his previous 44 starts on the European Tour.
Fasth shot a 5-under 66 to finish second at 8-under 276. He surged into a share of the lead with Huldahl on the back nine, but had back-to-back bogeys at the 16th and 17th holes.
Ignacio Garrido (69) was third at 277, and Gary Lockerbie (65) and Danny Willett (67) tied for fourth at 278.
Huldahl and Garrido shared the lead with Nick Dougherty when the third round was completed Sunday morning after a long rain delay to the start the round Saturday. Dougherty (79) finished tied for 37th.
