
MIAMI, June 5 (UPI) -- Barry Zito won for the first time in five decisions Friday and Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run homer, pushing the San Francisco Giants past Florida 2-1.
The start of the game was delayed for more than an hour by rain.
Zito (2-6) threw five-plus innings, allowing a run on four hits with three walks. Brandon Medders, Sergio Romo and Brian Wilson combined for four scoreless frames, with Wilson picking up his 14th save despite walking three hitters in the ninth.
The Giants won for the fourth time in five games.
Sandoval staked San Francisco to a 2-0 lead in the fourth with his fourth homer of the year.
Florida went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12.
Chris Volstad (4-5) suffered the hard-luck loss, allowing two runs on eight hits in six innings.
Wilson walked Alejandro De Aza to open the ninth and Chris Coghlan sacrificed the runner to second. Wes Helms then struck out, but Jeremy Hermida and Hanley Ramirez drew walks to load the bases.
Wilson finally got Jorge Cantu to ground out to shortstop to end the game.
