WASHINGTON, June 5 (UPI) -- David Wright's two-run double with nobody out in the 10th inning Friday lifted the New York Mets to a 3-1 decision over Washington.
With their roster littered with injured players and having lost four of their previous five games, the Mets got six excellent innings from starter Tim Redding and four shutout frames from their relief corps.
New York got to Joel Harahan (0-2) in his second inning of work. Luis Castillo led off the 10th with a single and Carlos Beltran walked before Wright's double to deep right scored both runners.
The win went to Sean Green (1-2), who needed just nine pitches to work a perfect ninth inning. Francisco Rodriguez was perfect in the 10th to earn his 15th save.
Washington's latest losing streak reached three games. The Nationals, owners of by far the worst record in the majors, played their 31st game against a fellow-Eastern Division opponent. They have won just five of them.
