LOS ANGELES, June 4 (UPI) -- NBA Commissioner David Stern announced Thursday the league had fined Cleveland superstar LeBron James $25,000.

Stern said the fine had been levied became James did not speak with the media following his team's season-ending loss to Orlando last Saturday.

Cleveland produced the best regular-season record in the NBA this year and swept its first two playoff opponents.

The Cavaliers then lost at home twice to Orlando and eventually were knocked out in six games.

"I spoke with LeBron James," Stern said during a news conference Thursday prior to the start of the NBA finals, "and he expressed to me that when he left the building and did not meet with the media and congratulate the Magic, he was wrong.

"He asked that I express to the media, to the Magic and to the fans his apologies."
