NEW YORK, June 2 (UPI) -- Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey was named Major League Soccer's Player of the Month for May on Tuesday.

Casey, who was named MLS Player of the Week on Monday, scored four goals and added one assist in four games during the month and led the Rapids to an undefeated record (2

2).

Casey has battled back from a major knee injury to become one of the top forwards in the league. He leads the league with eight goals in 10 games and is three goals shy of his career best 11 goals in 21 games, scored in 2008.

Casey scored twice in Colorado Rapids' 3-2 win against the New York Red Bulls to complete a month in which he scored in three consecutive matches and got a goal or an assist in every match.

Casey has 23 goals in 48 career appearances for the Rapids.
