NEW YORK, June 2 (UPI) -- The Texas Rangers placed outfielder Josh Hamilton on the 15-day disabled list and reinstated pitcher Vicente Padilla from the DL Tuesday.

Padilla, a right-hander, started Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees.

Hamilton is out with an abdominal strain. The 28-year-old also was out from April 27 to May 11 with a strained intercostal muscle.

The All-Star is batting .240 with six homers and 24 RBI in 35 games this year. Last season Hamilton led the Rangers with 156 games played.
