SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 1 (UPI) -- Phil Mickelson is expected to rejoin to the PGA Tour next week at the St. Jude Classic and then play the following week at the U.S. Open.
Mickelson suspended tournament play when it was announced several weeks ago his wife Amy had breast cancer. GolfWorld reported Amy Mickelson's surgery won't be scheduled until late June or possibly July.
Phil Mickelson indicated he would play these next two events, and then base his schedule on his wife's health. He missed last week's event at Colonial, where he would have been the defending champion.
"We have a wonderful team of doctors helping us, and it is believed that we caught this early," Phil Mickelson said in a statement. "We are anxiously waiting for a number of test results that will help guide us in the best possible direction."
