PITTSBURGH, June 1 (UPI) -- Andy LaRoche had a two-run triple and an RBI single Monday and the Pittsburgh Pirates scored five times in the eighth in an 8-5 win over the New York Mets.
Adam LaRoche was 3-for-5 and scored twice and Jack Wilson had three hits for the Pirates, who recovered from a five-run deficit.
Pittsburgh starter Ian Snell gave up five runs on six hits and five walks in six innings. The win went to Tom Gorzelanny (3-1), who recorded the final out in the eighth inning.
Matt Capps worked around a leadoff single in the ninth for his 11th save.
Wilson Valdez drove in three runs for the Mets, who lost for just the third time in their last 10 games. Jeremy Reed had two doubles and scored twice.
Mets starter Livan Hernandez allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.
J.J. Putz (1-4), who gave up four straight singles, was charged with the loss.
