Police again unable to interview Woods

CHICAGO, June 1 (UPI) -- Jim Thome hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning Monday to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 6-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Matt Thornton (3-1) earned the win with one inning of relief. White Sox starter Gavin Floyd struck out eight in seven innings while giving up two runs on four hits and three walks.
A.J. Pierzynski added a solo homer for the White Sox.
Craig Breslow (1-4) was charged with the loss after allowing a run in 1 1/3 relief innings for the A's, who have lost five of six. Oakland starter Trevor Cahill allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings.
