MLB: Philadelphia 4, Washington 2

PHILADELPHIA, May 31 (UPI) -- Jamie Moyer finally notched his 250th career win Sunday by pitching Philadelphia to a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals.

It was the sixth try at the milestone for Moyer (4-5), who at 46 is the oldest pitcher to win 250 games. He trails only Tom Glavin (305) and Randy Johnson (299) in career wins among active pitchers.

"I was able to keep the ball down for the most part," Moyer said. "I got the ball in the middle a couple times early, but from there I was able to do what I usually do."

Moyer scattered three hits and gave up one run over six innings. He struck out four and did not walk anyone.

Josh Willingham hit two home runs for the visiting Nationals and John Lannan (2-5) was hung with the loss despite notching seven strikeouts and giving up four hits in five innings.

Philadelphia provided Moyer with an early 2-0 cushion when Chase Utley doubled in a run in the first and Chris Coste hit a solo home run in the second.

Pedro Feliz provided the third run on a ground ball in the fourth to make it 3-1. Ryan Howard closed out the scoring for the Phillies in the seventh with a two-out RBI triple that scored Utley.
