Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BALTIMORE, May 31 (UPI) -- Edwin Jackson held the Baltimore Orioles to two hits in eight scoreless innings Sunday to pace the Detroit Tigers to a 3-0 win.
Jackson (5-3) threw 101 pitches with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Closer Fernando Rodney earned his 10th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
The Tigers' offense came from Curtis Granderson, who hit a solo homer in the fourth, and RBI hits by Jeff Larish and Clete Thomas.
Nick Markakis and Ty Wigginton had one hit each for the Orioles, who have won six of their last eight outings, but Sunday, they did not have more than one base runner in any inning.
Losing pitcher Jason Berken (1-1) surrendered one earned run and just four hits in seven innings as the Tigers salvaged a split in the four-game series.
