BALTIMORE, May 29 (UPI) -- Luke Scott hit two home runs Friday, one of them a grand slam during a five-run fifth inning that boosted the Baltimore Orioles to a 7-2 victory over Detroit.
The Orioles extended their longest winning streak of the season to five games by building a 7-0 lead through five innings.
Brad Bergesen (2-2) coasted to the win by working eight innings, giving up two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Baltimore roughed up Dontrelle Willis (1-2) for seven runs on 10 hits in five innings. The Tigers, who began the night with a 3 ½ game lead in the American League Central, lost their second straight.
Brian Roberts reached on an infield single with one out in the third inning, moved to third base on a single by Adam Jones and scored on a base hit by Nick Markakis.
After Jones was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice grounder by Aubrey Huff, Melvin Mora singled to load the bases. That brought up Scott, who hit a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right for his grand slam.
Scott added a solo shot in the fifth, running his home run total for the year to 10.
