
KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 27 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco had two hits and three RBI Wednesday, leading the Detroit Tigers to an 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Polanco's two-run homer, his first this season, gave Detroit a 5-2 lead with one out in the top of the fifth inning.
Josh Anderson had four hits and one RBI.
Three others had one RBI, including Miguel Cabrera, who hit a second-inning solo homer.
A run scored on Mark Teahen's sixth-inning error and Ryan Rayburn added two hits for the Tigers, who had lost three of four following a seven-game winning streak.
Detroit's Rick Porcello (6-3) won his fifth straight start.
Teahen led Kansas City with three hits and one RBI.
Billy Butler and Luis Hernandez had one RBI apiece, while David DeJesus had two hits for the Royals, who have split four games following a four-game losing streak.
The losing pitcher was starter Kyle Davies (2-4).
