Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

OAKLAND, Calif., May 25 (UPI) -- Adam Kennedy had four hits and two RBI Monday, boosting the Oakland Athletics to a 6-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Travis Buck added a solo homer and scored three runs, and Jack Hannahan added an RBI for Oakland.
Brett Anderson (2-4) gave up a run on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. Kevin Cameron pitched the final three innings and gave up just two hits to earn his first career save.
Ichiro Suzuki was 4-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 19 games for Seattle. Kenji Johjima had a solo homer but left in the third inning with a bruised left big toe.
Losing pitcher Chris Jakubauskas (3-5) gave up five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings.
