VIRGINIA WATER, England, May 24 (UPI) -- England's Paul Casey birdied the last two holes Sunday and won the European Tour's BMW PGA Championship by one stroke over countryman Ross Fisher.
In Sunday's final round at the storied Wentworth Golf Club in Virginia Water, England, Casey, the leader by three after Saturday's third round, shot 4-under-par 68 to Fisher's 8-under 64.
Casey's 72-hole total was 17-under 271 to Fisher's 16-under 272.
"It was not an easy putt," Casey said about the five-footer which secured his second tournament win on the European Tour. "(But) any putt to win is something I would like to have."
Fisher held a one-stroke clubhouse advantage before Casey's closing birdie binge, and his spectacular final round included eight birdies and no bogeys.
Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen (69) was third at 13-under 275, Welshman Stephen Dodd (67) fourth at 12-under 276 and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy (71) finished fifth at 10-under 278.
