MONTE CARLO, Monaco, May 24 (UPI) -- Jenson Button was dominant Sunday in winning the Monaco Grand Prix, his fifth victory in six Formula One races this season.

He crossed the finish line 7.666 seconds ahead of teammate, Rubens Barrichello, giving Brawn GP its third one-two finish in 2009.

The Frome, England, native grabbed the pole position during Saturday's qualifying and broke away from the field on Sunday's first lap.

He relinquished the lead briefly by pitting just twice during the 78-lap race.

With his victory, he became the first Briton to win the Monaco GP from the pole since Jackie Stewart in 1973.

"Winning the Monaco Grand Prix is something that you dream about as a child and as a racing driver and the reality of taking that victory just feels awesome," Button said at a post-race news conference. "With Rubens taking a superb second place, (winning) in Monaco is fantastic."

Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and Mark Webber (Renault) completed the top-five.
