LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- A two-run single by Chone Figgins in the eighth inning broke up a tie game Friday and gave the Los Angeles Angels a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers had a four-game winning streak snapped and they lost at home for only the fourth time in 21 games.
Both teams scored a run in the fourth and it remained deadlocked until the Angels struck against reliever Cory Wade (0-3).
Kendry Morales opened the eighth with a single and moved to second on an infield hit by Gary Matthews.
Morales was forced at third on a futile sacrifice attempt by Howie Kendrick and Maicer Izturis drew a walk to load the bases. That brought up Figgins, who hit a 1-1 pitch to right, scoring Matthews and Kendrick.
Darren Oliver (1-0) got the win in relief and Brian Fuentes worked the ninth to grab his 12th save.
