WASHINGTON, May 23 (UPI) -- Aubrey Huff's two-out RBI triple Saturday lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals.
Huff's triple was one of only three hits for the Orioles, who will try for a three-game sweep of the "Beltway" inter-league series Sunday.
Their other run was courtesy of an RBI infield single by Nick Markakis with two outs in the top of the third.
The winner was reliever Brian Bass (3-1).
Closer George Sherrill struck out the side in the ninth for his ninth save.
Starter Koji Uehara left after three innings because of a sore left hamstring.
Washington's lone run came on Cristian Guzman's one-out, fifth-inning homer.
Adam Dunn had two of the seven hits for the Nationals, who have lost nine of 10.
Ross Detwiler, making his second major league start, gave up one run and one hit in six innings with four walks and four strikeouts.
The losing pitcher was reliever Julian Tavarez (1-4).
