Nadal will play qualifier in French opener

PARIS, May 22 (UPI) -- Rafael Nadal opens his bid for a fifth straight French Open title Sunday, taking on a qualifier in the first round.

The top-seeded Nadal and No. 2 Roger Federer are on opposite sides of the draw. Nadal has defeated Federer in the last three French finals.

The draw was released Friday.

Players on Nadal's side included fellow Spaniard David Ferrer, Russian star Nikolay Davydenko and Scotland's Andy Murray.

Federer, of Switzerland, will open against Alberto Martin. Others on Federer's side of the draw include American Andy Roddick and Serbia's Novak Djokovic.
