SAN DIEGO, May 22 (UPI) -- Scott Hairston capped a ninth-inning rally with a two-out, RBI single Thursday, giving San Diego a 3-2 victory over San Francisco.

The Padres won their sixth straight game despite giving up a go-ahead run in the top of the ninth.

San Francisco relied on Brian Wilson (2-3) to protect the one-run advantage in the bottom of the ninth, but the Giants closer could retire only two of the seven men he faced.

Kevin Kouzmanoff opened the ninth with an infield single and was sacrificed to second by Nick Hundley.

Pinch-hitter Tony Gwynn drew a walk and, after Edgar Gonzalez struck out, Brian Giles also walked to load the bases.

Wilson's first pitch to David Eckstein hit the batter, forcing in the tying run, and Hairston followed by hitting a 0-1 offering into left-center.

That made a winner out of Heath Bell (2-0), despite the fact Bell had given up a run-scoring single by Randy Winn in the top of the ninth that gave San Francisco a 2-1 lead.
