Morita's service breaks win in France

STRASBOURG, France, May 21 (UPI) -- Ayumi Morita was a straight-set winner Thursday, ousting the final seeded player left in the $220,000 Strasbourg International tennis tournament in France.

No. 3-seeded Peng Shuai was the only seeded player to advance to the quarterfinals but had her serve broken eight times in losing 7-5, 6-2 to Morita. Peng was unable to hold serve even once in the second set.

Lucie Hradecka got by Kristina Barrois, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), and earned a semifinal slot against Morita, whom she has never played before.

Qualifier Viktoriya Kutuzova made the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Stephanie Cohen-Aloro and Aravane Rezai rallied for a 0-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Monica Niculescu.

Rezai is 2-0 in her career against Kutuzova, including a win this year on clay, which is the surface in Strasbourg.

The tournament title is to be decided Saturday with the champion taking home $37,000.
