
DETROIT, May 21 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera's eighth-inning RBI single Thursday boosted the Detroit Tigers to a 4-3 victory against the Texas Rangers.
The win extended Detroit's winning streak to six straight games.
Cabrera's only hit broke a 3-3 tie with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Curtis Granderson's lone hit was a two-run third-inning homer. Clete Thomas hit a first-inning solo homer, while three others had one hit each for the Tigers, who swept a three-game series from Texas for the second time this season.
Winning pitcher Edwin Jackson (4-2) surrendered three earned runs and seven hits in eight innings with five walks and seven strikeouts.
Closer Fernando Rodney earned his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.
Texas got three hits from David Murphy -- one a first-inning solo homer.
Nelson Cruz had two hits and two RBI for the Rangers, who started the series on a seven-game winning streak.
Losing pitcher Kevin Millwood (4-4) yielded four earned runs and six hits in eight innings.
