MILWAUKEE, May 21 (UPI) -- The father of former NBA star Latrell Sprewell has been killed in a motorcycle crash in Milwaukee, authorities said.
A medical examiner's report said Latoska Fields, 62, died Tuesday night when the motorcycle he was riding hit a Chevrolet Suburban that turned in front of him, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Field was pronounced dead at the scene.
"He loved his motorcycle, and he took pride in it, and he was very careful in riding his bike," said Poinciana Sprewell, Field's daughter. "He was very loving and kind, and he will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family."
Field was not wearing a helmet. Police said they were investigating possible charges against the sport utility vehicle's driver.
Poinciana Sprewell said her father had five children.
Latrell Sprewell played with the NBA from 1992 to 2005 for the Golden State Warriors, the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves. His career was marred by violent incidents, including an assault on P.J. Carlesimo, the Warriors coach, in 1997.
