ATLANTA, May 20 (UPI) -- Yunel Escobar hit a three-run homer during a nine-run fourth inning Wednesday, allowing Atlanta to coast past Colorado 12-4.
The game was tied at 1-1 going into the fourth, but David Ross started the scoring in the big inning by drawing a bases-loaded walk and finished it with an RBI single. In between, Escobar hit his fourth home run of the year to give the Braves a 6-1 lead.
Jeff Francoeur and Jordan Schafer also drove in two runs for Atlanta, winners of four out of six.
Javier Vazquez (4-3) allowed an unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts over five innings to get the win.
Atlanta, however, suffered a loss when infielder Omar Infante left the game with a broken left hand. He was hit by a pitch from Manuel Corpas in the sixth inning and X-rays showed he broke the bone that goes from the little finger to the wrist.
Jorge De La Rosa (0-4) survived only 3 2/3 innings, giving up a season-high seven runs. He also walked five batters. Among all the National League pitchers who have thrown enough innings to be listed in the ERA statistical category, De La Rosa is the only one without a victory. He has started eight games.
