ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 19 (UPI) -- Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer in the 11th inning Tuesday to give the Oakland Athletics a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Holliday's homer was the fifth of the season for the first-year Oakland outfielder, as the Athletics snapped a four-game losing streak. Josh Outman gave up three hits and a walk with six strikeouts over six scoreless innings. He had allowed one run over six innings in his previous start.

Adam Kennedy had two hits and an RBI for Oakland. Santiago Casilla (1-1) got the win after pitching a scoreless 10th.

Willy Aybar homered in the 11th to account for the Rays' only run. Dan Wheeler (1-1) retired the first two batters in the top of the 11th, but suffered the loss.
