ST. LOUIS, May 18 (UPI) -- Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks will be out the rest of the season because of a wrist injury he suffered Sunday.

Weeks needs surgery to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist. The recovery time is estimated at four to six months. The surgery is expected to take place Wednesday in Phoenix.

Weeks missed the last two months of the 2006 season with a right wrist injury.

In 36 games this season, Weeks batted .274 with 28 runs scored, 24 runs batted in and nine home runs.
