MLB: Pittsburgh 12, Washington 7

WASHINGTON, May 18 (UPI) -- Craig Monroe hit a three-run homer Monday to help the Pittsburgh Pirates post a 12-7 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Jack Wilson was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI and Ramon Vazquez had a pinch-hit two-run double for the Pirates, who have won three straight.

Winning pitcher Ross Ohlendorf (5-3) gave up five runs on six hits with three walks in five innings.

Nick Johnson hit a three-run home run and Willie Harris scored twice for the Nationals, who have lost five straight and eight of their last nine games.

Washington starter Ross Detwiler allowed three runs on four hits with no walks and six strikeouts in five innings. Garrett Mock (0-2) took the loss after being charged with three runs on one hit with one walk with just one out.
