SEATTLE, May 17 (UPI) -- Jason Bay and Jason Varitek hit two-run homers Saturday to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 5-3 victory against the Seattle Mariners.

Bay's 11th homer this season gave Boston a quick 2-0 lead with two outs in the top of the first inning.

Varitek's fifth upped Boston's lead to 4-0 with one out in the second.

Jeff Bailey's lone hit was a fifth inning solo shot for the Red Sox, who had just six hits but snapped their three-game losing streak.

Winner Josh Beckett (4-2) surrendered three runs -- two earned -- and four hits in seven innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

Closer Jonathan Papelbon earned his 10th save with a scoreless ninth.

Seattle's Yuniesky Betancourt hit a two-out, two-run second inning homer.

Russell Branyan had two of the five hits and one RBI for the Mariners, who have lost four of five.

Losing pitcher Garrett Olson (0-1) gave up five earned runs and four hits in six innings.
