KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 16 (UPI) -- Zack Greinke allowed a run over seven innings following a long rain delay Friday, carrying Kansas City to an 8-1 win over Baltimore.
The game was delayed at the start for 2 1/2 hours, but Greinke came through to help the Royals end a six-game losing streak. That stretch of frustration had come on the heels of six straight wins.
Greinke (7-1) entered the game with an amazing 0.51 ERA. He was coming off his first loss of the season, a 1-0 setback to the Los Angeles Angels in which he allowed only four hits over eight innings.
Baltimore managed six hits off Greinke, who struck out six and walked two.
Jose Guillen gave Kansas City a quick lead with a two-run single in the first, Mike Jacobs delivered a solo homer in the fourth and Miguel Olivo added a three-run blast later in the same inning.
Alberto Callaspo contributed RBI singles in both the fifth and seventh.
Adam Eaton (2-4) gave up seven runs on 10 hits over five innings to take the loss.
