
ANAHEIM, Calif., May 14 (UPI) -- Jeff Mathis hit a one out, 12th-inning RBI single Thursday to lead the LA Angels to a 5-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox.
The catcher had two hits and two RBI in all.
Torri Hunter had three hits and three RBI, including a two-run double for a 3-2 Los Angeles lead with two outs in the bottom of the third.
Juan Rivera and Bobby Abreu added two hits apiece for the Angels, who have won six of their last seven games.
The winner was Jason Bulger (1-1) after he retired two batters in the top of the 12th.
Boston's Julio Lugo had five of 15 hits and one RBI.
Dustin Pedroia had four hits and one RBI.
Jacoby Ellsbury added two hits and one RBI and Jason Bay had one RBI for the Red Sox, who lost the last two contests in the three-game series.
The losing pitcher was Manny Delcarmen (1-1).
