
CHICAGO, May 14 (UPI) -- Bobby Scales had two hits and four RBI Thursday, leading the Chicago Cubs to an 11-3 rout of the San Diego Padres and a three-game sweep.
Scales, playing third base for the injured Aramis Ramirez (shoulder), hit two-run doubles in both the fifth and sixth innings, when the Cubs scored 11 times.
Starter Ryan Dempster and Reed Johnson both had two hits and two RBI.
Aaron Miles had two hits and one RBI, while Kosuke Fukodome added a run and two hits for the Cubs, who have won four in a row.
Dempster (3-2) surrendered two earned runs and just three hits in seven innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez and Drew Macias hit solo homers.
Brian Giles and Scott Hairston added one hit apiece for the Padres, who have lost six in a row.
Losing pitcher Chad Gaudin (0-3) surrendered four earned runs and one hit in 4 1/3 innings, but walked seven batters.
