OAKLAND, Calif., May 13 (UPI) -- Orlando Cabrera had three hits and four RBI Tuesday and the Oakland Athletics routed Kansas City 12-3.
Jack Cust smacked a two-run home run and Matt Holliday had two hits and drove in two runs for the A's, who pounded out 13 hits.
Trevor Cahill (2-2) went six innings, letting in two runs on seven hits with two walks to get the win for Oakland.
The A's offensive output spoiled the season debut of Royals' starter Luke Hochevar (0-1), who was called up after going 5-0 with an ERA of 0.90 in Triple A starts. Oakland rocked him for eight runs on seven hits and he was gone after just two innings.
Sidney Ponson gave up four runs in relief for the Royals.
Coco Crisp had a home run for Kansas City.
