NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) -- Martin Prado's second hit Wednesday, a solo 12th-inning home run, lifted Atlanta to an 8-7 victory against the New York Mets.
Garry Sheffield's solo homer, his third this season and 501st homer of his career, had created a 7-7 tie with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but Prado's second round-tripper this season settled the contest with one out in the 12th.
Atlanta's Garret Anderson had three hits and three RBI. Chipper Jones had two hits and one RBI.
Four others knocked in a run, while two others had two hits apiece for the Braves, who ended an eight-game road trip with a 6-2 mark.
The winner was Jeff Bennett (1-1). Mike Gonzalez fanned two of three batters in the 12th to earn his sixth save.
One of three hits for New York's Fernando Tatis was a fourth-inning grand slam, while Luis Castillo added one RBI for the Mets, who have lost two of three.
The losing pitcher was Ken Takahashi (0-1).
