CHICAGO, May 12 (UPI) -- Patrick Kane got his first career playoff hat trick Monday to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 7-5 win over Vancouver and a berth in the NHL Western finals.

Jonathan Toews added two goals for the Blackhawks, who reached the conference finals for the first time since 1995. Chicago will play either Detroit or Anaheim.

Detroit leads that series 3-2, with Game 6 scheduled for Tuesday in Anaheim.

Kris Versteeg and Adam Burish also scored for Chicago. Nikolai Khabibulin made 33 saves for the win.

Daniel Sedin scored two goals for the Canucks, who had a 2-1 lead in the series before losing three straight. Mats Sundin had a goal and an assist and Mason Raymond and Shane O'Brien also scored for Vancouver.

Roberto Luongo allowed all seven Chicago goals on 30 shots.
