
RALEIGH, N.C., May 12 (UPI) -- Mark Recchi and Chuck Kobasew each had a goal and an assist Tuesday and the Boston Bruins beat Carolina 4-2 to tie the Eastern Conference semifinals at 3-3.
Steve Montador had a goal and Patrice Bergeron two assists for the Bruins, who have come back from a 3-1 deficit to force a Game 7 Thursday in Boston. The Bruins have never overcome a 3-1 deficit to win a series in 20 previous tries.
Marc Savard also scored for the Bruins before leaving in the third period following a knee-on-knee hit by Chad LaRose.
Boston goalie Tim Thomas made 31 saves.
Matt Cullen and Sergei Samsonov scored for the Hurricanes, who will be playing their second consecutive Game 7 in these playoffs. In the first round, against New Jersey, Carolina scored twice in the final 80 seconds of regulation.
Tuesday, Cam Ward gave up four goals on 19 shots.
