LONDON, May 11 (UPI) -- Richard Gasquet, ranked 21st in the world, was suspended Monday by the International Tennis Federation for testing positive for cocaine.

Gasquet admitted last weekend two urine samples he gave in March in Miami tested positive for cocaine. He also said a hair sample he submitted to an independent laboratory showed no traces of the drug and vowed to prove his innocence.

The suspension is pending a meeting of an ITF anti-doping tribunal in the next two months. If that panel upholds the positive test results Gasquet could be banned from competitive tennis for two years.

Gasquet is 14-8 in matches this year and last played April 30 in the ATP's stop in Rome, where he lost in the Round of 16. He has won five ATP titles and $4.1 million over his seven-year professional career.
