MILWAUKEE, May 10 (UPI) -- Craig Counsell and Ryan Braun hit solo homers in a six-run seventh inning Saturday, helping the Milwaukee Brewers down the Chicago Cubs 12-6.
The Brewers held a slim 3-2 lead before they erupted. They added three runs in the eighth after the Cubs closed to 9-6.
Milwaukee's Jason Kendall had three hits and two RBI. Braun scored three times and added two hits and two RBI, Counsell and Rickie Weeks both had two hits apiece and Corey Hart hit a two-run seventh-inning single.
Chris Duffy had one RBI and a run scored on Geovany Soto's first-inning throwing error for the Brewers, who have won six of seven.
The winning pitcher was starter Yovani Gallardo (4-1), who allowed just two runs on five hits over five innings with four walks and eight strikeouts.
Chicago's Micah Hoffpauir had two hits, including a two-run, fifth inning homer. Kosuke Fukudome had two hits and two RBI, an eighth-inning run scored on one of three wild pitches for the Cubs, who have split their last four games.
The losing pitcher was starter Ryan Dempster (2-2), who gave up five runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings, with three walks and nine strikeouts.
