ANAHEIM, Calif., May 10 (UPI) -- Chone Figgins bunted home the winning run Sunday in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's 4-3 win over the visiting Kansas City Royals.
Figgins keyed a three-run seventh by laying down a bunt that scored Jeff Mathis from third and broke a 3-3 tie. Mathis had two RBI for the Angels, who swept Kansas City in the three game series.
Scot Shields (1-2) threw two scoreless innings of relief to get the win. Angels' starter Shane Loux lasted 3 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and all three Royals runs. Brian Fuentes gave up a hit and walked a batter in the ninth, but got David DeJesus to hit into a game-ending double play and earned his ninth save.
Jamey Wright (0-1) pitched the seventh, giving up three runs on two hits to take the loss. Kyle Davis started and held the Angels to one run on three hits over six-plus innings.
Kansas City led 3-0 after four innings. Mark Teahen drove in a run with a double in the third. Alberto Callaspo drove in the second run in the fourth with a triple, followed by an RBI single by Miguel Olivo.
Los Angeles rallied for a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Kendry Morales. After Mike Napoli singled and Howie Kendrick reached on a throwing error in the seventh, Mathis then drove both in with a single to tie the game 3-3.
