Jenson Button wins the Spanish Grand Prix

BARCELONA, Spain, May 10 (UPI) -- Jensen Button continued his dominant start Sunday by winning the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona ahead of runnerup and Braun teammate Rubens Barrichello.

Button's team opted for a two-stop pit strategy instead of three and the strategy paid off.

He was the last driver to post a time in Saturday's final qualifying session, but started the race on the pole.

Button, in his Braun GP Mercedes, has won four of five races at the start of the 2009 Formula One season and has a solid double-digit lead over Barrichello (Mercedes) in the F1 standings.

"Three-stop was the quickest strategy we thought," Button said. "I wasn't sure about going to a two-stop."

He won the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in March and in April won both the rain-shortened Malaysian Grand Prix and the Bahrain Grand Prix.

In spots 3-5 Sunday were Mark Webber (Red Bull Renault), teammate Sebastien Vettel (Red Bull Renault) and Fernando Alonso (Renault) fifth.
